Dr Jay Deshmukh | Sunflower Hospital Nagpur:- Acute pancreatitis is an inflammation of the pancreas. The pancreas is a long flat gland that is situated in the upper abdomen. The pancreas produces hormones that help us for digestion and regulation of our blood glucose. Pancreatitis can occur as acute pancreatitis, meaning appearing suddenly and remaining for a few days or as chronic pancreatitis that may remain for many years. Mild cases may remain to improve without treatment, but severe cases may cause life-threatening complications.

What are the main symptoms of acute pancreatitis?

  1. Upper abdominal pain, abdominal pain that radiates to the back, abdominal pain that gets worse after eating, fever, rapid pulse, nausea, vomiting, tenderness when touching the abdomen are important symptoms.
